Pictures of St. Mary’s Church in Lansdowne, Uttarakhand, India

Lansdowne is a picturesque cantonment town in Pauri Garhwal district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Founded in 1887 and developed by the British as training center of the Garhwal Rifles. It is the perfect place to meditate and rejuvenate your soul.

Here are some pictures of St. Mary’s Church taken by my brother when he visited Lansdowne recently as part of his college trip. Thank you Akhil for sharing the pictures. GOD Bless.
About the Church: Construction of this Protestant (I am sure Anglican) Church began in 1895 by Lieutenant Hume of Royal Engineers. It was completed in 1896. The church fell into disuse after 1947. The building has now been restored by Garhwal Rifle Regiment.

    Thank you for posting the pictures. It was my great-grandfather who designed the church so I am pleased to see it is still standing and attracting visitors!

    I have recently been to this Church and the Army has been attempting to restore it to the olden glories...a wonderful experience visiting the beautiful church.

    Wonderful photos. Do you have a close up of the photo of the couple outside the church with wedding guests, Roger Malcolm Durant Willcocks and his bride?
